5D4n Kota Kinabalu & Kundasang Itinerary, Sabah Trip

A few years back, I went to Sabah with my bestie (En Xin) and during the Sabah trip, I managed to visit my Sabah uncle and his family too. It was my first time to Sabah though it is so near to us. Here is a recap of what we do in Kota Kinabalu and Kundasang, Sabah.

Island Hopping trip to The Tunku Abdul Rahman Park

Although this may not be the best island hopping tour in Sabah, but I would suggest to give it a try anyway.

During the tour, we tried Coral Flyer, the longest island to island zipline in the world which is about 235 metre long. The zipline flies between Gaya island and Sapi island. This was my first experience sitting on a zipline, Amazing experience unlocked!

Signal Hill Observatory Tower

You can stop by at the Atkinson Clock Tower along your journey up to the Signal Hill Observatory Platform. Atkinson Clock Tower is the oldest standing structure in Kota Kinabalu.

Enjoy a spectacular view of Kota Kinabalu from Signal Hill Observatory Tower. For those who wanted to visit, I would suggest taking a cab up to the hill. As we were planning to hike the hill, unfortunately, we had underestimated the height of the hill. As we were struggling to hike the hill a pass by car was kind enough to offer us a ride up.

Local market visit, Gaya Street Sunday Market

Gaya Street Sunday Market, Sabah

While travelling, I always take some time to visit the local market. In the market, not only I can buy some food and souvenirs; I am also able to immerse myself to their local culture.

Strolling at the beach and watching the sunset at Tanjung Aru Beach

Tanjung Aru Beach, Sabah

Walk on the sandy beach and enjoy the windy environment at the Tanjung Aru Beach. I would say this is the best place to enjoy a sunset in Kota Kinabalu. On the other side of the beach is the landmark of Tanjung Aru, Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort, Sabah. So we were thinking to enjoy the sunset view at the Sunset Bar but after that, we decided not to spend the extra bucks on it. Nevertheless, sunset on that particular day was not the best though.

Poring Hot Spring

We went to the Poring Hot Spring which situated at Ranau, 45 mins drive away from KK town. I did not feel it was super worth it to go. However, if you have not tried hot spring, then maybe you can give this a try.

Eat the local food, yummy!

Tried a lot of delicious local food in Sabah, thanks to my uncle! Lotsa of food pictures ahead, so make sure your tummy is full when you read this post! Haha

Kundasang, highlight of the trip!

Kundasang, Sabah

Kundasang has always been known as New Zealand in Malaysia. This place is a must visit for everyone because of the chilling weather! Ensure you visit the Desa Dairy Farm and have delicious ice cream in this chilly weather.
